kELzO said: “I wanted to do a piece of street art that would be appreciated by the people that live here. As well as representing the rich history of an area, the style of the art itself has to fit in with the personality of a place. It’s really important to connect with the people who live here.

Smith formed the band after attending the June 1976 Sex Pistols gig at the Lesser Free Trade Hall in Manchester[1][2] and was its leader until his death. During their 42-year existence, the Fall's line-up included some 60 musicians with whom Smith released 31 studio albums and numerous singles and EPs.[A][3]

Mural of a kingfisher diving for a fish by Peachzz. This was painted for Concrete Canvas 2021 along the Sheffield & Tinsley Canal.

This piece by Sheffield artist Trik 9 represents the cultural changes brought to the UK by the Windrush generation. Giant speakers can be seen floating across the Atlantic towards the grey docks of the UK, bringing with them sound system culture.

The main character is dressed in Grenadian themed carnival costume, a nod to the artist’s heritage.

This weekends event is in partnership with @canalrivertrust
We'd like to thank them for partnering with us and for all the work they do along the canal.
Here is a little more info about the project... As part of the 200th anniversary celebrations Canal & River Trust will be launching a new nationwide Canal Street Art Trail during the Sheffield Waterfront Festival.  The first year of this trail is focussed on Sheffield and is supported by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery (PPL). A series of bold, colourful artworks will be placed along the city’s waterway.  We are working with Concrete Canvas and Sheffield-based street artists, who alongside Affix will be producing new canal art work over the coming year. The Canal Street Art Trail will also include artworks created by local community groups working in collaboration with street artists.  Further details to be announced shortly.
